Employee Giving to MVH
Your participation in the employee campaign shows another level of your support Maine Veterans and their eligible family members. As employees you help us fulfill our mission of caring for those who served, and now as a donor you are also Giving For Those Who Served. In addition to being able to make gifts online or directly to the home, as an employee, you also have the ability to make a donation through payroll deduction and/or the donation of Earned Benefit Time.
When making your donation, you can choose to support the activities department at an individual Home, or you may opt to support our new Augusta Home, opening in early 2021.
Supporting the Activities Department at a Home
As a donor to one of our Activities Departments, you will receive a special thank you note and our new MVH “Caring” pin.
Giving through Payroll Deduction
Payroll deduction allows employees to make a donation in any amount of money or length of time. Payroll giving is a great way for an employee to make a smaller gift that over a year’s time really adds up. A gift of $2 per pay period for a year turns out to be a $52 gift.
To make a payroll deduction gift, please complete the attached form and submit it to your Human Resources Department for processing.
Employees that would like to convert some of their EBT time to a donation are allowed to donate up to 100 hours per year (there is a max of 100 per year cash out/donation.) An employee that makes $15 an hour and donates 15 hours a year will end up making approximately a $150 donation. Each donor’s situation may be different as donated hours are converted to cash and all taxes and any retirement withholding are made prior to the donation being made.

Supporting the Augusta Capital Campaign
Opening in early 2021, our new Augusta Home will be the first Small Home care facility in the state. As an employee you have two ways to become part of history. All gifts regardless of size, will be recognized on our Employee Donor Wall, which will be located outside HR in the Community Center. For employees that would like to have a “Brick” we have 4 sizes available.
For more on employee recognition, please see Employee Recognition Form
Payroll Deduction
Payroll deduction allows employees to make a donation in any amount and for any number of pay periods up to 130 (5 years). Payroll giving is a great way for an employee to make a small gift that really adds up. A gift of $2 per pay period for 5 years will become a $260 gift. A $10 gift per pay period becomes a $1,300 gift after 5 years!
Earned Benefit Time
Employees that would like to convert some of their EBT time to a donation are allowed to donate up to 100 hours per year for a total of 5 years (500 hours total). An employee that makes $20 an hour and donates 40 hours a year for 5 years will end up making approximately a $2,600 donation to the employee campaign. Each donor’s situation may be different as donated hours are converted to cash and all taxes and any retirement withholding is made prior to the donation being made.
