MVH Machias is located a short distance from the Sunrise Trail which allows us access to walking groups and adaptive bicycling excursions.
Each spring, we plant vegetables in our raised beds in the courtyard; residents have full access to this area at all times whether they want to water our flowers and vegetables, weed or simply join the plants in soaking up the sun. Once we harvest our vegetables, we use them for fresh meals for our residents.
Support the Machias Resident Activities Fund
At MVH Machias, it is so important that our residents remained connected with our vibrant, Downeast community.
Our residents love our fishing trips with the Maine Warden Service, Federal Wildlife Officers and Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Biologists at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, train rides with the Downeast Scenic Railroad, visits to local blueberry fields to watch the action during blueberry raking season, trips to area coffee shops, meals out at our favorite restaurants and seasonal take-out, trips to local Veterans events such as Wreaths Across America, free concerts for Veterans at the Balsam Valley Amphitheater, and more. Many of our outings are coordinated with other local assisted living facilities and nursing homes in order for old friends to visit with each other.
As a result, we have selected our Resident Activities Fund to be the recipient of all gifts made online. However, if you prefer that your donation benefit a specific area of the home, special project or even a particular event, please let us know when you make your donation.
