Support Maine Veterans’ Homes – Scarborough

Veteran residents visits Cabela's

MVH Scarborough offers a variety of opportunities to the individuals who reside in our home. Circled by a picturesque one-third mile paved, wheelchair accessible walking path, MVH Scarborough is the first nursing center in Maine to receive the AHCA Gold Quality Award. Partnerships with local schools, children’s play groups, Veteran service organizations and community teams means that there are abundant opportunities for our residents to participate in diverse, intergenerational, community activities and events.

More than your typical Activities Department

Our diverse recreational programs include many activities not typically associated with a long term care setting, including: bocce ball, archery, motorcycle rides, tandem bike riding, fly and spin casting, fly tying and fishing trips! For individuals who enjoy the outdoors and gardening, we have a community sponsored garden at our home with raised planting beds on each unit. We have a music and memory program, brain exercise program in our brain gym and programs where our residents are encouraged to reminisce about their life and memories. In addition, residents stay physically fit with our daily calisthenics, chair boxing, chair Zumba and stationary biking.

Support the Scarborough Resident Activities Fund

Our residents enjoy being active and so our certified therapeutic recreation staff is always planning a variety of programs for them to enjoy. As a result, we have selected our Resident Activities Fund to be the recipient of all gifts made online. However, if you prefer that your donation benefit a specific area of the home, a special project or even a particular event, please let us know when you make your donation.

For the artistically inclined, we offer monthly art therapy groups lead by a certified art therapist. These classes offer our residents of every artistic level a chance to learn new skills and let their creativity shine.

Donation Forms:

These forms can be mailed to our Development Office at 460 Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME 04330 or dropped off at any of our Locations throughout the state.
