Assisted Living Residential Care for Veterans

Individualized Support in a Safe, Supervised Environment

Assisted living residential care is for Veterans who are able to move independently but who might need limited hands-on support. These Veterans don’t need around-the-clock care, but they may need help in the form of reminders, verbal cueing or some limited hands-on assistance. A move to MVH assisted living residential care provides the care, security and community environment your loved one needs to maintain their independence, and give you peace of mind.

What is the right fit for Veterans with dementia?

At Maine Veterans’ Homes, five of our six locations offer a model of specialized assisted living residential care for individuals who have been diagnosed with early-stage dementia. The exception is South Paris, which does not require a dementia-related diagnosis for assisted living residential care.

If your loved one is in the later stages of dementia and/or needs 24-hour skilled nursing care, our long term dementia and memory care areas can provide what you are looking for.

For help deciding what memory care service is best, feel free to contact us to talk with a skilled professional. We can help provide the education you need to make the right decision for your loved one.

Assisted Living Residential Care at MVH

While each Home has its own unique culture and community, all Maine Veterans’ Homes are well maintained and have an active social calendar with many personalized recreational opportunities. Plus, our locations don’t have visiting hours, so you can visit your loved one whenever you’d like.

Our five residential memory care locations feature secured areas and specialized programming, such as music programs to help with anxiety, to benefit individuals with cognitive issues. South Paris also features a variety of programming plus secured and non-secured areas for our Veterans to enjoy. All of our locations are also designed to promote purposeful movement, such as walking.

Residential care services include medication management, prepared meals and housekeeping all in a safe, supervised environment. Other features our residential care Veterans enjoy include:

  • Apartment-style living areas
  • Common dining areas
  • Quiet rooms and guest accommodations
  • Individualized recreational programming
  • Access to trained care providers
  • Transportation to doctor’s appointments
  • Beautifully landscaped courtyards with manicured gardens
  • And more!
