Maine Veterans’ Home – Machias proudly stands near the easternmost point of the U.S., known as Maine’s “Bold Coast.” Machias is situated at the center of Washington County to best serve the needs of area veterans and their families, on the campus of Down East Community Hospital and surrounded by blueberry fields, nature trails, and wildlife. Our home provides a friendly, active atmosphere offering Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Respite Care for Maine’s Veterans and their families. You’ll often find residents enjoying billiards or bingo, outdoor activities, community outings, intergenerational events, and much more.

MVH – Machias Offers:
- 30 beds for Assisted Living residential carefor those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and respite care
- An award-winning gerontological certified nursing staff including a Medical Director, Certified Activities Professional, RN Infection Preventionist, Licensed Social Worker, and RN Residential Care Director specifically trained to care for the physical and emotional needs of Veterans.
- An Individualized plan of care is developed for every resident, honoring their needs and wishes
- Private resident rooms with bathroom, cable TV, Wi-fi, and telephone
- Secure memory care area
- Quiet room where residents and family members can rest, meditate, or enjoy some quiet time
- R.N. service available 24/7
- Fully equipped kitchen, with two resident dining rooms for residents, family, and friends offering varied menus that feature fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients
- Leisure breakfast from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. to suit residents’ schedules
- Secured outdoor courtyard for residents to relax on the patio or plant a garden in our specialty raised beds
- A barber/beauty shop and whirlpool bath
- Regularly scheduled daily activities, including during evenings and on weekends, with offerings like van rides to local attractions, exercise, reading group, spiritual activities, movies, and games
- Multi-purpose rooms for resident activities that feature large-screen TVs
- Frequent outings to community and Veteran events, fishing, local concerts, and more.
- 14 passenger, wheelchair accessible van to provide for frequent outings to community and Veteran events
